If you live in the area covered by Manchester City Council, you can use this application to:
- see how much Housing Benefit you could get if you pay rent for your home
- see how much Council Tax Support you could get if you are the person who is responsible for paying the Council Tax for the home you live in
The application is in two parts. The first is a calculator which can give you an idea of what you may be entitled to. The second part allows you to make a claim.

If you are helping somebody to make a claim for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Support, you MUST have them with you at the time you complete this online claim, unless you are a claimant's:
- - Court of Protection appointed deputy, an attorney appointed under the various attorney acts or a person appointed by us under Regulation 82(3) (Working Age HB) and Regulation 63(3) (Pension Age HB), known to us as an appointee
- Or
- - someone with Power of Attorney or appointed as a Deputy or Receiver for the claimant.
At the end of the claim, you will have to review the answers given by the claimant then ask them to agree to the online declaration before submitting the claim.
